Young women in Chicagoland are benefitting from donated new and nearly new prom dresses.
Since 1999, the Glass Slipper Project has helped more than 20,000 high school juniors and seniors attend their proms in a new or nearly new prom dress. In addition to a dress and necessary accessories, the Chicagoland young women also receive assistance from a volunteer personal shopper to help choose her dream dress. USAgain, a national textile recycler, accepts the donations at more than 1,500 Chicago-area drop-off locations. In addition to formal dresses, the project collects shoes, evening bags, jewelry, and unused make-up, as well as monetary donations. Prom Goes Green has partnered with the Glass Slipper and expands the distribution reach.
