Lauren Pappas is serious about music and fitness, which makes her day job as fitness instructor and night job as DJ the ideal way to keep her calendar booked and her mind and body happy.
Situated in northern California until August, Lauren chose the San Francisco area as a venue to experience life outside of her home of Los Angeles. She has found the people in her temporary home away from home have hippie roots and are more into eating and living organically, which is in tune with her own habits. Lauren learned early to eat for her health and enjoys being surrounded by others who are likeminded. She finds it inspiring.
Her father is a nutritionist who owns a health-food store and both her parents have instilled in her a concern for the earth and environment. Her parents taught her to focus on nutrients when she eats—and she has seen firsthand far too many people who focused on calories become yo-yo dieters.
“There is so much evidence of damage to the earth, I feel we have a responsibility to stop the process or undo it where possible,” says Lauren. “In addition to eating healthy, biking or riding instead of driving, I consciously apply the organic metaphor to as many areas of my life as I can—including my choice of workout wear. Which is why Infinite Clothing is a vital part of my wardrobe.”
During the weekdays, Lauren teaches fitness to adults and children and is currently developing a children’s fitness program—something youngsters of every age can practice. She uses her current fitness classes to develop and test techniques and approaches to see which work best with the young bodies. Lauren has found her niche and uses her primary inspirations—music and fitness—as the foundation for her career. For her, the right song will make her run farther and lift more, which increases her sense of accomplishment. She spins music to motivate others in the same way.
Self-confidence diminished in Lauren as she aged from child to a ’tweener and realized she was severely lacking in athletic skills. She was diagnosed with a learning disability and that manifested as an incapability to accomplish—in many areas, including athleticism. At 15, she joined the cross-country team, and though her body was fit, her participation and success in running transformed her mind and her thinking.
Despite her success in school athletics, Lauren feels the school let her down in two key areas affecting every person (young and old) every day: food and money. The schools she attended failed to teach her any financial-management skills—even the basics, such as balancing a checkbook—and also avoided education surrounding healthy eating and care for growing and changing bodies. She hopes to find an opportunity to influence school systems to create structured classes to help children understand both—in order to become better adults.
As part of her social presence, Lauren creates videos and podcasts and has taught herself to edit these in order to more quickly and effectively produce her works. The result is a product she feels is more personal and allows her to connect better with her audience and fans. Her goal is to stand out in both fields and perhaps combine them as an inspirational fitness personality with a spin (pun intended).
Infinite Clothing is more than a small part of her fitness wardrobe. She first received samples when asked to model the women’s wear, but began collecting other pieces.
“The Amazon leggings are my favorites because they are the most comfortable brand I own. They fit me like a second skin, maintain their fit, and best, are earth conscious. Infinite Clothing shows respect for the environment and for my body, and that’s important to me,” says Lauren.
Teaching fitness during the week and DJing on the weekends allows Lauren to participate in events in California and other states. You can meet her in person at any number of personal appearances such as FitExpo in San Jose, 21–22 May, where she will be presenting a healthy cooking demonstration and participating in a women’s Q&A panel.
Lauren is excited about starting yet another endeavor: she has begun work on the first book in a series aimed at building self-confidence in young girls and teens. Lauren says, “Writing a book has been a lifelong dream and I couldn’t be more excited to finally begin working on it. I have been fortunate to live a success story and I want to share my experiences with young girls at a time in their lives when a positive influence will have the most impact. With this series I’ll be able to write an entire book to connect with each specific age group and their unique needs.”
Infinite Clothing chose Lauren as a Shining Star, not because she modeled for us, but because she is a driven woman with nothing but success in her future. We think she is the ideal ambassador for our brand—and for girls and women around the world.
